Blog 8 – Hail Caesar! (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds)

The Birthday Party were my first favourite band. I kept going with the Bad Seeds for a long time.

On 5 January 1984, I attended the first “Nick Cave: Man or Myth” concert in Sydney at the Musicians Club. Nick Cave Collector’s Hell is a great website, where I confirmed the date. This band became the Bad Seeds when Blixa Bargeld replaced Tracy Pew.

That performance has been channelled into Telemachus (page 841). You can find it in Chapter 10 or Volume 2 of the PDF by searching for the heading titled “Flashbacks.”

It’s partially written as a mock rock magazine review. I also wrote a lot of bogus song lyrics, in light-hearted homage to my hero.

Have a look in the TMAC Stuff Gallery at the original lyrics for (See Me Move In) My Blue Suede Shoes, Baron Fun and I Killed King Cockroach!

I cropped the text summary (p.845) of the actual song list with my ‘virtual’ song list  into a square shape for Twitter. I love this bodgie image.
